A tattoo artist from Brazil is in some hot water after pictures emerged of his dog sporting some very real tattoos on its face. Poços de Caldas artist Emerson Damasceno posted the photos of his tattooed pet dog on his personal Facebook page.
The photos showed Mr. Damasceno’s pet bull terrier with tattoos depicting the logo for the Los Angeles Dodgers in its ears, stars around the dog’s eyes, and an anchor topped with brass knuckles and a diamond. After posting the photos of his dog, many of his followers were outraged that the dog was tattooed.
To try and defend his actions, Mr. Damasceno claimed that his dog had been diagnosed with cancer and that the tattoos he gave him would help protect him from any solar rays. The Brazilian media has quoted several vets saying that tattooing animals would not help prevent cancer in any way.
After his photos sparked an outrage, Mr. Damasceno took the photos down of his dog and changed the name on his Facebook account. He later deleted the account completely. Fernanda Soares, a lawyer in Brazil, is one of the first who noticed the pictures of the dog and worked to make the photos noticed by the masses.
